I have loved this book from start to finish. I read this during a very difficult time when my partner was in hospital and this book provided me with a getaway from the stress of the situation. It really took this 54 year old man out of the hospital and back to a time when life was care free and the ZX Spectrum was everything to me. The pages were glossy, the pictures of high quality, the pixel art (as it’s called these days) of the main character/item from each game was a great addition too, and the writing was tinged with nostalgia and was surprisingly very informative and very well researched. Totally loved this book so a huge thank you to the author Graeme Mason for taking me back to my childhood during a horrible period in my life… I truly owe the author a pint if I ever have the good fortune to meet him - thank you so much for taking the time to write this book, it honestly was like time travelling back to happier times each time I picked it up so for that alone you have my eternal gratitude… Thank you.
Pros: Very good quality book, great artwork, well formatted. Cons: Very sparse writing, pretty much sums up the 'nightmare' in a paragraph.
Great book and really good fun to read. Took me back to my youth and the good old ZX Spectrum days.
This is a fantastic, high-caliber book that tells the tale of a game from the 1980s that was an absolute pain to play. I can think of a few titles on https://pumpkinpanic.com/ that were comparable. Books in hardcover are of exceptional quality. To read and know it is enjoyable. A lot of joy to read and full of memories. Definitely worth the cost.
If like me you're of a certain age,you would have owned at least a few of the games in this fabulous well made book.Outstanding quality made hard back book. It's a hoot to read and spot on.By 86 I'd moved to a CBM C128 and passed on the Spectrum and games. Good games that were near impossible or terrible games you bought because of the hype. A massive chunk of nostalgia and fun to read.Well worth the money.
